Quebec has ruined chocolat chaud for me, and I'm not mad about it. It is the best possible indulgence in winter (next to my snobbery surrounding croissants).
It’s time to end your friendship. Haha, just kidding. Honestly, Quebec City is a fantastic city, and very different than Montreal. If you come thinking it’s going to be as cosmopolitan as Montreal, then you’ll be disappointed – which is a mistake that many make. I write a lot about the city, and will be writing more on it here too. Hopefully I can convince you need at least 2-3 days here.
Hello Pamela. I discovered your profile recently and I wanted to convey how much I enjoy it. My partner and I traveled to Quebec City (I live on Vancouver Island) in 2018. I had travelled fairly extensively throughout Canada, had been to Montreal a few times, but never Q.C. Turns out Quebec City was among our favourite trips. In the top 3, for sure! And we are eager to return. I love how you are writing about the brilliant food and aesthetic beauty of Quebec City. I think few people recognize how marvelous it is. When we were in Q.C., we walked 8 to 10 hours a day just marveling over everything. My grandmother was French Canadian and I felt really connected to my roots. Looking forward to more from you on the sights and sounds of Quebec City! Enhanced by chocolat chaud and cheese! xx
Hi Nadine! Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I’m happy to hear you had a great time here. I love this city so much. You should definitely come back, the city gets better every year. ☺️
I just watched an episode of the show The Law According to Lidia Poët (on Netflix) where Chocolat Chaud was mentioned quite prominently. I wasn’t familiar with the drink, but they made it out to be quite special and definitely rich. It was in the last 3 episodes. If you aren’t familiar with the show it takes place in the late 1800s in Turin. Beautiful costumes and I watch in Italian just to hear the language.
This is right on time as I'm planning a winter trip to Montreal and debating a stopover in QC. I love chocolate so now I MUST
So, a stopover of 1-3 days in Quebec City is ALWAYS a good idea. FYI.. Carnaval de Quebec is 7-16 February, so hotel prices spike during that time.
Oh wow! My only friend whose been told me max 1 day...but I'm going in nov or dec for some holiday vibes 💫

Oh, I have not watched it yet, but I’ll put it on my list. Thank you!
